Looking in from the Outside

Sort of. I mean I did go in, because I can’t help myself. The first floor windows were finally installed this week! For comparison here is a before and after:

Top: view of old front facade and windows, Bottom: view of new windows and brick wall removed. That planter is going to be removed as well.

We decided to remove the weird brick wall on the front facade and the planter that I never liked. That planter was bad news for a couple of reasons: 1. The previous owner built it up about 18″ and the soil was pushed directly up to the house, which trapped moisture, 2. The weird wavy design which was really hard to mow around, and 3. It was in the way of the front porch I’d like to eventually put there (not as part of this project since we are already spending enough, thanks!). We changed out the windows because our contractor suggested that it would balance out the front and make more sense on the inside. We completely agreed and I think the new windows look great!

On the side of the house, the new door has become a reality. I am really excited about this, I have dreams of actually parking in the garage since it won’t need to be our own personal storage unit anymore ๐Ÿ˜‰

I am excited to see the entire front facade completed, I think it will look great once the planter is out and the siding is up!

In the meantime, we will be working on cleaning up the yard this weekend, it’s looking pretty bad- I’m sure the neighbors will appreciate if we mow the lawn and pick up the leaves that fell after the final yard waste pickup last fall ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Anyone else hate yard work as much as I do? I like to save it until there’s a lot to do, then I feel like it my hard work is really noticeable.
